Overview
KumetR (“the App”) is a mobile application used by karate coaches to manually tag and analyze kumite match videos. This Privacy Policy explains what information KumetR collects, how it is used, and how it is protected. KumetR is developed and operated by Ippon.
Information We Collect
Account information
To use KumetR you create an account with an email address and a password. Your password is never stored in plain text – it is stored using a one-way cryptographic hash, so we cannot read or recover your original password.
Athlete and competition data
Coaches using the App can add athletes (name, WKF international ranking ID when known, date of birth, gender, weight category, club, country) and competitions (name, date, location). This data is shared across all KumetR users, since athletes and competitions are real-world entities rather than data private to a single coach.
Match analyses
Match analyses you create – including the video source (a YouTube link, a direct video link, or a video file you upload), and every tagged event (scoring attempts and fouls, with details like technique, timing, and severity) – are private to your account and are not visible to other users.
Video files
If you upload a video file directly (rather than linking to YouTube or another external source), it is stored in Ippon’s Microsoft OneDrive, accessed through the Microsoft Graph API. We do not host or store video files on our own servers.
How We Use Your Information
Your information is used solely to provide the KumetR service: authenticating your account, storing and displaying the athletes, competitions, and match analyses you create or have access to, and enabling video playback for analysis. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your data to third parties.
Third-Party Services
- YouTube – when you analyze a YouTube video, it is played back through YouTube’s standard embedded player, subject to YouTube’s own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
- Microsoft OneDrive / Graph API – used to store and stream video files that you upload directly, subject to Microsoft’s Privacy Statement.
Data Storage and Security
All data is stored on servers operated by Ippon. Access to the API requires an authenticated account, and each coach’s match analyses are only accessible to that coach. We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.
Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your account and analysis data for as long as your account is active. If you would like your account and associated data deleted, contact us using the details below.
Children’s Privacy
KumetR is a professional coaching tool intended for use by adult coaches. While athlete records may include minors (as is common in competitive youth sport), the App itself is not directed at children, and accounts are only created by coaches.
